I admit I had my doubts when starting the series but at the moment, I am COMPLETELY in love with Joan of Arcadia.

Have a short peek at a scene from the show that doesn't give anything essential away, apart from the fact that this scene happens ;)

Queen of the Zombies

Have you ever tried heating a boiled egg in the microwave? No? Well ... I did. And I can state with empirical evidence now that it explodes with a low thud within the first 30 seconds. Also, the mess it makes is not recommendable. Nonetheless, I somehow couldn't help but laugh about this newly found wisdom. So, the yellow part of the egg heats up faster than the white part. Fascinating. /spock

ATTENTION

This is something I've never done before but I've been doing a lot of new things this year and I think it's time.

There are a few people on my f-list who a) have not updated in years or b) I have the feeling do not actually read my journal and who I have not communicated with in a looooooooooong time. If you think this might be you and you are just on the quiet side lately but still want to stay in touch, please leave a quick note. Also if you read this after I took you off my f-list but want me to reverse it, also leave a note and you will be added again.

This is NOTHING personal, it's just a general clean-up of ... file-corpses (do you say that in English?) ... although I should say "journal-corpses".
Also, if my entries have always kinda bugged you and you skipped right over them while scrolling down your f-list, this is the chance to get rid of me. ;)

The clean-up will take place on Monday or Tuesday.

Thank you, and good night. :)

The days pass me by so quickly and I try to ignore the fact that I'll be gone so soon.

A chance encounter brought back memories of good old times. A few days ago, I met one of the Tolkien fans again, we went for a coffee, talked about series, movies, books ...
Well, long story short, thanks to her, I met a few of the other Tolkien people again (those who organized Theoden's funeral at the Ring*Con in 2004). Still keeping up the costume love. :) It was fun watching the reactions to a very authentic looking Jack Sparrow sipping a cocktail in a café/bar next to the cinema, together with Will Turner and two lovely ladies in beautiful dresses.

It's good to know that they are all doing fine.
I know, it's impossible to stay in touch with everyone (although it would be lovely) ...

Unless you consider the Doctor's shoulder and the new Companion's appearance (from the shoulders upwards) a spoiler, it's safe to click:

Just a part of a promo pic that gives nothing away plot-wise )

I've been reading a few Sandman comics.

Yeah, I know, call me procrastinatrix. But it helped me to calm down a little.

Now I really want a t-shirt that says "Death is a pretty girl." with a picture of my favourite Endless.

And wouldn't it be cool if a group of people dressed up as the Endless to greet Neil Gaiman at this year's book fair in Leipzig?

Now a few questions that might be spoilerish, so just to be sure: cut. )

Uh, does anyone happen to know if, when I post in a community and make the entry friends only, every member of the community can see it or just the people I have added as friends?

One Thing of Beauty

Gimme just one thing of beauty
To last me for all of my years
Gimme just one thing of beauty
And wash away all of my tears

I won’t need to get no religion
When I throw all my burdens away
So gimme just one thing of beauty
And I’ll stand at this alter and pray

Gimme one thing of beauty
I need one thing of beauty
Baby one thing of beauty

It’s hard times down on the corner
Yeah, there’s loneliness out on the street
I mean, everywhere you go there’s someone you know
Who suffered some kind of defeat

But there’s dreams being dreamed down in the doorway
Of all these places nobody goes
Yeah the ones that just so many are praising
They’re the ones now that nobody knows

They just need one thing of beauty
Maybe one thing of beauty
They need one thing of beauty

(That’s right...that’s all they need)

You can keep every diamond and ruby
You can forget all those pharaohs and kings
Gimme just one thing of beauty
Take away all these material things

Gimme one thing of beauty
Since it all turns to ashes and dust
Gimme one thing of beauty
Yeah, the rest of you can do what you must

But I need.... (Chorus)

There’s hard times...
There’s loneliness down on the street
But all we need is just one thing....

When you go way down
You’re looking for one thing....

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

It's almost done! *points* =D

And I love his humour!
If any part of that process takes longer than expected (please don't laugh), or is delayed for any reason (I beg you), I'll let you know. (quote from marccohn.net)
At least he seems to be aware of how much he made us suffer. *g*

Let me take this moment to pimp my Marc Cohn community. [info]move_real_easy You will probably have to bear my squeeing anyway, but it's more elaborate over there. ;-)
Just imagine, he might do another Europe tour! *faints*

When I met [info]corrrvid last Friday, we saw the cutest, funniest card ever at the train station. And today, I found it in my mail box. =D Thank you so much, that made my day! I can't help but smile back. :-)

Okay, I did it, I created my first community ever on LJ: [info]move_real_easy.
If you like Marc Cohn or know people who love him other than me, please join or spread the word. Feels awfully lonely at the moment.

And LJ switched my default language to German again. It's not supposed to do that! *shakes fist*

I am fighting a war against MS Word at the moment. I cannot figur out how to make end notes (a opposed to foot notes) with arabic numbers (1, 2, 3...) instead of roman numbers (i, ii, iii ...). I have to make references to the literature index in my project outline text and I did it the prehistoric way by just entering a number in brackets in the text and write the author, title, journal and publish date behind the same number at the end of the document. Which has the disadvantage that it doesn't automatically change when I enter a new end note in between. And now I would like to send the whole text to my supervisor for editing and don't want to impress him with my lack of MS Word skills.
There has to be a neater way than the one I used.
Can anyone help? Fast? Please? Pretty please? Cherry on top?

Okay, I figured out how to change the foot note (end note) symbols from i, ii, iii to 1, 2, 3 ... but they are still in Times New Roman size 10 instead of Arial size 12. My attempts at changing it have been futile so far. I changed text type and size by marking the foot note, rightclick, "format" but it just doesn't do it.

The longer I listen to the Veronica Mars soundtrack, the more I love it.

I don't have much cheerful/funky music and I never had the urge to listen to it too much. But now that I do, it makes me feel like dancing. *g*
